Nearly a year after I introduced my book on personal finances and investing, I launched an online video course based on the book. Some people prefer an audio-visual learning experience over reading a book, so I wanted to fill that niche. The course summarizes key points from my book, such as one section on investing, another section on retirement planning, etc. I broke up each section into several videos to make the information easy to digest.
If you have written a non-fiction book, this is something you might consider doing yourself. You can create a course on sites like Udemy or Teachable. Alternatively, you can create YouTube videos based on tidbits from your book. This can help present you as an expert on the subject matter and hopefully encourage people to follow up by purchasing the book.
My course is available on Udemy. I didn’t do anything too fancy with it. I used PowerPoint to create the slides, purchased a relatively cheap microphone, and used Audacity to record and edit the audio. It was a fun project overall and a good learning experience.
